Getting Sensory in Manchester

04.08.13

Darwin and I went out for a bit of a jolly today leaving his Mother at home.  He's getting more and more curious so I wanted our outing to be quite a sensory one.  Firstly we went to the City Art Gallery to take a look at the Pre-Raphaelites and he enjoyed it.  I don't know if it was the colours, or whether he can recognise human form in paintings, but at one point he did try garbled talking.  And then when we went to look at the Banksy Darwin got very "Grabby".  I think he likes Black and White images.

After we had a little snack in the cafe we took a walk through the busiest parts of Manchester.  The city was full of performers, and loud ones at that.  We stopped by a man playing the drums and then went on to watch an African band.  There was a man playing guitar and singing but he looked too weird, we didn't make eye contact and went straight to a South American pan pipes band.  We then stopped by the street dancers and I think this was his favourite, he likes it when I dance too.

He fell asleep shortly after this and on the way back I thought it would be good to get a video of the drummer playing furiously whilst panning to a sleeping Darwin.  It didn't work, the drums were too much, his eyes and mouth widened as he took a deep gasp of breath as we neared.  We walked away and within 30 seconds he was asleep again.
