Jesus Christ Daddy, When is the Singing Gonna Start?

So Day 1 of Darwin n Daddy week started with ‘Bouncefest’, a selection of about 10 or so bouncy castles to bounce on for an hour or so. Darwin quickly learnt that he could pull back a large kind of inflated punch bag, sit on it inconspicuously and then release it when a small child was in front of him, sending the child hammering to the bouncy floor. Thankfully it was always met by laughs from both parties.

In the afternoon we visited the Lakeland Museum. Darwin wasn’t that impressed but we got to throw false eggs at each other which he enjoyed. You could also create a newspaper front page which we both did. His contained stories about Minecraft, mine contained stories about penises, naturally.

Whilst we’ve been driving about I’ve let Darwin ride shotgun with me. He also likes to listen to music on the stereo, I say music, I mean songs about Minecraft. So to get him to appreciate other types of music I chose a playlist on YouTube called ‘100 best songs ever’ and told him he could control the music as long as he chose any song from that list. When he chose a Miley Cyrus song I immediately stopped the car and chose a different playlist where then he chose ‘Comfortably Numb’ by Pink Floyd, and he loved it and wanted to play it again. The next song he chose was another Pink Floyd tune, ‘Shine on you crazy diamond’, which he liked less. I think the thing that frustrated him the most was the long intro which made him ask in a loud angry voice, “Jesus Christ Daddy! When is the singing gonna start?” That made me laugh.
