Thomas and Friends

This weekend Thomas and his friends came to the East Lancs. Railway and I think Kerry and I were just as excited for Piggy as we thought Piggy would be to see Thomas.

As the family ticket we had allowed for 2 adults and 3 children we invited Leah and Shnai along too.  There's a lot of sibling rivalry going on between them two and coupled together with their enthusiasm for everything and endless energy, this sometimes makes for ¹ 'challenging situations'.

The night before our Thomas extravaganza we took a walk to see the baby sheep and horses in the field opposite.  Shnai likes to get nasty with the sheep but Leah is a little more cautious.  I reckon if Shnai had been unsupervised she would have had a sheep in a headlock before long.  I had to keep warning her that if she was nasty to the animals they would retaliate by pooing angrily on her, I don't think it made a difference.

We started the day in Bury listening to Sir Topham Hatt giving a speech.  I only learnt at the weekend that this is the Fat Controllers real name and the 'Fat Controller' is a cheeky nickname used by the engines, there we go!  Soon after his speech Thomas arrived and Piggy's face lit up as if he was witnessing something truly magical.  We saw Duncan, Percy, James, Alice & Diesel, and some terrible trucks.  We were allowed up front in a steam train and a diesel engine and all the kids had tattoos.  (I don't mean permanent tattoos of naked ladies and panthers!)

We then took a walk around Bury Transport Museum where we saw Bertie the Bus.  Piggy and I watched a Punch and Judy show, it's a lot less violent than when I was a kid, maybe Judy has realised it pays to be obedient!

Piggy was given permission to sit in the drivers seat of a bus but when he started pressing all the levers and buttons in front of him like any 2 year old would 'the man' flipped a little bit.  I got the impression that this was his bus and he had a 'special' relationship with it.
