Dog with Super Hearing?

Barley the dog was taken to the vets this week with an uppity foot and he has to wear one of those things to prevent him from licking himself. I wonder if they were invented shortly after the anti-masturbation glove by the same person, probably by a catholic priest I bet!

I tried to wear it but it nearly choked me. I laughed at the thought of being found dead from suffocation from attempting to wear it : ), I bet it's happened! Any road, I wonder if it improves the dogs hearing when they have it on? And if so should guard dogs be wearing them? Obviously you would have to adopt the design a bit so it could still bite people.
