A Very Trumpy Christmas

So Christmas has begun. We’ve been getting out and about when we can but I’ve also been looking forward to those dark afternoons in a warm house watching TV and eating chocolate. Darwin hasn’t really had the patience for films prior to now but he did get a flavour over Christmas. We watched The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child, Stick Man and Thomas and Friends Tales of the Brave film, all about 10 times each.

We’ve been building the occasion up too. We have Reindeer dust to scatter on Christmas Eve, we tell tales of Santa and his exploits and Darwin is very much into singing lots at the moment so we sing carols, and that song from the ‘Frozen’ movie. A few years ago I was talking to Hawko about the whole Santa and Kids thing and he wasn’t going to bamboozle his boy with Father Christmas as he thought it was a waste of time. I want Darwin to get excited about Father Christmas and I know there’s only a short window where he will get excited but I want it. And that isn’t me being totally selfish, I think it’s a mini rite of passage when kids find out Santa isn’t real, particularly when they learn from their friends.

The thing that makes Darwin laugh the most at the moment is when people pretend or actually do trump on each other. This will be a very trumpy Christmas.
