The Mill is Dead, Long Live the Commercial Development

It’s hard for me to believe that any building built today will be around in another 150 years time. I imagine that the building where I’m sat now will not be here in another 20 years and I often wonder who will be the first person to break into it when it’s all boarded up to take photos of it for the 28 Days Later website, and thus leaving the memories of what went on here as speculation in the minds of the people viewing the photographs.

You can view images of what Rugby Mill used to be like on the inside here:

And is it sad? Well no, that’s just the way it is. All life is cyclic and as individuals we’re transient in the cycle. If you experience life and you manage to feel any kind of happiness at all then you’re doing alright.

Any road, Rugby Mill has well and truly gone. Nothing remains but 3 acres of hardcore and the promise of a £4m investment to create a new commercial development. I wonder how long the new development will be around for. The oldest buildings in the world are approximately 7000 years old, that’s impressive init?

Here is a selection of images taken during the demolition spanning from winter to summer. The trees and bushes remain.
