Day 7 - Egypt

24.04.11

So the first trip of the day was to Karnak, the location where James Bond had a do with Jaws! Its quite impressive but all the sites are full of devious Egyptians. There are many cleaners and tourist police and they probably all make more money from the tourists than they do from their employers, pointing out everything they know the English for in the hieroglyphics. I tried flippin it today and calling one over to show him a snake but he didn't fall into my trap!

A small stop at a touristy jewellers where Kerry bought 2 "Real Amber" bracelets containing scorpions and bees. I asked if it would be permissible to try and burn the "Amber" with a lighter, he said yes but I didn't have a lighter! I'll show my arse if they're real amber though.

Last Egyptian temple now, Luxor temple. Between this temple and Karnak there used to be an avenue with statues adorning either side of it. Years of Nile floods have left this area under a bed of silt so excavations are still continuing. Of all the Egyptian temples and remains it is said that they think only 40% have been excavated so far.
