The Animal Naming Game

On Sunday we went to a Baddeley household with 3 generations of fathers.  I only met one of my grandparents, great grandparents were right out of the question, but it's fun watching Jim (the great grandad) with Piggy, Jim makes farting noises and Pig stares.

During the afternoon Kerry insisted that we play the animal game.  This is a game that we sometimes play in the car on long journeys.  We start with the letter A and begin to name animals until one of us can't name any more.  The person who can't name one loses that particular round and then we move on to the next letter etc.

This time we sat in a circle of about 10 people starting off with the youngest and simply went round until everyone had named an animal, then we moved on to the next letter.  We didn't just restrict it to species though, any Phylum, Sub-phylum, Class, Suborder, Family or Genus would do as well.  Therefore we had answers like nematoda, mammal & fish.  Simple you say?  Well we also had answers like Ent, Kraken & Ignoramus, all of which were quite rightly rejected.  And every now and then someone would mention an animal and get a reaction from the game players like "Oooo, that's a really good one!", and I can't put my finger on why!

After Animals we played name a place.  By place I mean continent, country, county or state, city, town, village or hamlet, virtually any place.  ALTHOUGH, I did have Kilimanjaro rejected due to the rigid rules of the game!

"Fern & Chris"

"Shnai"

"Great Grand Kids"

"The Baddeley Kids"
