OAP Dogging Capital of the North

We went for a little drive the other night around the area. It would be no surprise to learn that we’re living in a ‘Dogging Hotspot’. There are so many ‘out of the way’ places and there aren’t any police stations for miles.

We drove up into the hills just in time to see the sun going down and what a lovely sight it was too.

Darwin has recently discovered lying and we’re trying to introduce discipline into his life. ‘Discipline’ was easier when I was a kid, if you did wrong you’d get physically punished and I lived my life in fear, hence I was quite a well behaved child. But that’s not appropriate any more. I would much rather Darwin not live in fear and be disciplined if that’s a workable choice. We do have the ‘naughty step’ and I have to use military-esque styles to enforce its use sometimes but it’s always used as a last resort. We try to understand why he’s behaving in a particular way first, using self-reflecting thought, highlight to him the consequences of his actions and we know it’s worked if he apologises and gives us a hug.

On the way back we drove past quite a few old couples making their way into the hills. It might be the OAP capital of the north round here. Good on em!
