Steven's Last Night in Town

I don't know if I've mentioned this before but I'm far removed from being a social butterfly. Sometimes I get excited about the idea of going out to socialise and then when the time comes it always sound like a shit idea considering the alternatives, like going home and doing nothing but spending time with my family.

And work do's have the potential to be the worst don't they? I'm not saying all work do's are shit and the relationships you develop at work are shallow and meaningless outside of work, they're not, but some, if not most, definitely are. I know some people whose only friends are those that they have made in work, and they are intolerable people, shallow, boring and often self obsessed.

That said, a work colleague of mine left the business recently and I've only known him for what seems like a short amount of time (5 years), but during that short time I've come to recognise him as an outstanding human and I have a lot of respect for him. Consequently I was more that happy to join him for a couple of goodbye drinks along with my other colleagues whom I have a lot of respect for and enjoy being with.
