Engines

I was at the Museum of Science and Industry again this weekend.  I like the warehouse that house the the old steam engines.  I like the smell of grease on metal and boiling steam, the mixture and permanence of iron and brass, large manual controllers that need a man to adjust, the skill of being able to read a meter by judging the level of a liquid, the noise of belts and lubricated steel, the feel of several coats of paint on cold solid metal surfaces.  It makes me feel proud of the industrial revolution and it makes me miss Fred Dibner.

I read the above to Kerry, she simply replied, "Gay"!

"Grease on Teeth"

"A Twisty Thing"

"Brass, Steel & Big Nuts"
