Week 2 - The Modernist Photo

So I did a bit of cyber wandering and came across a female photographer named Ruth Bernhard. I liked her work and thought I'd play with the idea of taking the female nude behind materials in order to create an image for this week.

I used 1 light from the side with a black background to produce plentiful shadows and placed a thin piece of silk in front of the body. Here's the result.

On a separate note John Donaldson (Meatyard Arts, Calvin Party) gave the talk on the evening. He's quite a distinct looking fellow and I could have sworn I had seen him before. I had, 2 years earlier I photographed him on stage at the Manchester Academy.
