Autumn on Thirlmere

We went back to Thirlmere today for a mooch to Harrop Tarn and a wander in the woodland. It was a perfect Autumn Day, a little nippy but the colours were amazing and glowing in the sunlight. It amazes me how little this place is visited but you do get that feel of ‘manmadeness’. The lake is indeed a reservoir, made so at the end of the 19th century, and although well-established now it still has that instinctive feeling that this wasn’t created by nature. Maybe it’s something to do with the pine trees or the fact that us humans like symmetry and the place has a design to it? I don’t know.

However, it was a beautiful day.
