Boom Boom Acka Lacka Lacka Boom

Either I’ve got peculiar fat thighs or they don’t make jeans like they used to.  In the olden days I could buy a pair of jeans and they would last me for years, growing old gracefully they would get better with age.  Nowadays within a month I can witness severe wearing where my thighs rub and shortly after that they’re ready for the bin, the jeans, not my thighs!

So we went to TK Maxx and I had a look for some new jeans.  It’s important to get good jeans.  If they’re too blue, too short or the fashion doesn’t suit your age they make you look proper ‘special’.  WTF is it with all this twisted bollocks and jeans being worn around the knees?  All the jeans they had in stock were mental and consequently despite owning 3 pairs of jeans I am now without a good pair of jeans.  I did however buy a new coat which is far too warm; it’s like wearing a waterproof 20 tog duvet.

This week’s antics have reiterated the importance of education, it’s important not to be ignorant and not to stifle development, it’s imperative to continually evolve even when those around us decelerate and appear to be in a state of devolution; so after our little shopping trip we went to Manchester Museum again.  Darwin can identify a number of animals now, maybe not down to the species but sort of to the scientific classification of family.  Of course he will refer to Felidae as ‘Cat’ and consequently may call a Lynx a ‘Cat’, or imitate the noise of a cat in that crazy way he does, but that’s close enough for now.  By going to the museum he can now get an understanding of scale and texture and get a better understanding of the massive variety of Animalia in this world.  I did get told off for stroking a buffalo though.

He ran round like crazy growling at the skeletal remains of dinosaurs, getting excited at the stuffed bear and he really enjoyed pole dancing in the Siberia exhibition.

In the shop there were a number of educational posters for kids, the kinds that show drawings of apples and oranges and describe their colour etc.  We also got a periodic table, an Esperanto for beginners and a ‘Know your DNA Structure’ poster.  Can’t help but feel we might be jumping the gun a little.

We also bought a walkable dinosaur for Darwin and on the way back to the car we sang “Boom boom acka lacka lacka boom”.[1]

[1] On researching the correct spelling of “Boom boom acka lacka lacka boom” I found myself in a bass line Youtube spiral culminating in a Bernard Edwards mega mix.  He and Niles are the greatest guitar/bass duo ever.

"Miles Platting"

"Walking the Dinosaur"

"A Chameleon"
