Vivian Maier

"Wowww, did you see that documentary on Vivian Maier last night?", a very excited work colleague asked me.  "Who?", I replied, secretly wondering if this was a "Gaylords say No", joke.

In this day and age we don't have to worry if you miss a quality TV programme because it's always available on some "Catch Up" format, and luckily for me this was no exception.  In a nutshell Vivian Maier was a quiet  private individual who liked taking photographs, there's nothing more to it than that.

The fact is she took thousands and thousands of images and hardly showed them to anyone, indeed on their discovery it was seen that many were undeveloped.  And there are loads of super images.

She was an American street photographer with most of her images coming from the 50's and 60's.  And that's the thing with street photography, the interest extends far beyond the subject of the image as time goes by, making their value increase with time.

She wasn't any better than many of the greats, or even worse, she just didn't shout about it.

"A Drunk"

"A Sphinx looking at a horses arse"

"Fatty and Finny"

"Vivian Maier Self Portrait"
