Taekwondo Swimming Beavers

Taekwondo Swimming Beavers - Sounds like a crap sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles doesn't it?

On Tuesday Darwin goes swimming. On Wednesday he goes to Beavers. On Thursday he does Taekwondo. It’s not quite as bad as some of the kiddy schedules I hear about.

He’s a pretty decent swimmer and he does appear to enjoy it. Paige is in his little group so I think he likes that. He doesn’t like losing though and whenever he stands to lose a race or a game he’ll often find a way to cheat. Arran & Leo go swimming at the same time too. Arran always comes to me afterwards and asks for some bubbles (shower gel!), it’s good because then get to know who’s who between Arran & Leo.

Selfishly I like Beavers the most because I get to have a pint in the pub next door to Beavers. I’ve never done the pub thing before really but I quite like sitting in the corner quietly having a game of scrabble with myself listening to other people’s conversations. Beavers seem a bit light though. They play games and make paper airplanes, I think he even got a badge for that! In my head I imagined them learning how to swap an engine of an old Ford Escort, learning where to punch a rabbit to kill it immediately and getting experience in firing a blunderbuss. Alas not!

I’m least keen on Taekwondo, it encourages him to attack me and occasionally I get a surprise punch to the stomach. I keep reminding him that that’s how Houdini died but it doesn’t make a difference!
