Santa on a Train
05.12.15
We went to see Father Christmas on Saturday, on a
train. Darwin knows who he is now and
his face did genuinely light up when he saw him. One of Santa’s helpers was in charge of our
carriage and dictated a whole load of rules before we set off in a very strict
tone. “Do not let your child stand on
the table”, “Do not let your child climb under the table”, “Do not laugh or
make direct eye contact with Santa”, “Do not speak to Santa unless he speaks to
you, and if he does refer to him as ‘Your Highness’” etc. We were all quite intimidated.
All the adults were given a mince pie and mulled wine by the
shit elf and we quietly awaited the arrival of the man himself. Before too long Santa passed through the
carriage dishing out carrier bags (the type that don’t have holes in them to
prevent kids from suffocating!) containing presents. Darwin received a fluffy Siberian Tiger
toy. Santa didn’t talk to anyone but we
didn’t mind. He looked the part and
Darwin loved being on a train.
