Autumnal Sunsets

Is it a fact that all the best sunsets and sunrises happen in Autumn? Stand by, I’ll just check Google….

Well you learn something every day don’t you? Apparently we do get better sunsets in late autumn due to drier air and high clouds. At sunset (and sunrise) the path that the sun's light takes to reach Earth is longer and at an angle. The blue wavelengths deteriorate because of the distance they have to travel and we see more reds and oranges.

For me it has to give something back though, I'm not a fan of the shortened days.
