That Bear From Star Wars
Kerry was away for the weekend so Darwin and I got to spend
some time together. On Saturday morning
we drove to Keswick to go to the swimming pool.
It has a 40m long tube (containing a black hole!) and a wave
machine. We went down the tube together
first and then he insisted on going down it by himself. This amused a few parents who all stood round
to witness Darwin fly out of the tube by himself, and they all cheered when he
did.
Afterwards we got lunch in Keswick. We both laughed lots during our lunch and
Darwin chatted to the other customers about dinosaurs and Star Wars. “What an absolutely
lovely son you have” one gentleman commented.
If only that gentleman could have seen him the following when he was
being a mega-prick!
When we got home we watched Star Wars, The Phantom
Menace. I had been prepping him for this
day throughout the week and had bought 2 light sabres for us to battle
with. He had been playing a Lego Star
Wars game on the iPad and was calling Chewbacca ‘The Bear’, so it was about
time. I was naturally inclined to start
his introduction with ‘A New Hope’, like it was for me but this way will be
less confusing.
His attention waned every now and then but mostly he got it. Chewbacca doesn’t appear though and he’s
still calling him ‘the bear’ so we’ll have to watch more soon. Wait until he sees the ewoks!
