The Lakes
Kerrys mum kindly volunteered to mind Piggy for a few days
before I shot off to Germany, so I booked a nice room in the Lakes with a
double spa bath, bought a bottle of Bollinger and the Bunster and I shot off up
to Windermere for a couple of nights. We
rarely get time to ourselves nowadays but it is strange being without Piggy.
We went for a sail on Lake Windermere and then came back to
drink champagne in the spa bath. We
could have both gone to bed there and then but we forced ourselves to go out
for a nice meal. We were both in bed by
9.30 and were quite excited at the thought of an uninterrupted nights sleep.
The next day we woke leisurely and ate breakfast and
consolidated our options of visiting National Trust places of interest. We chose to visit Wray Castle. It’s not
quite a castle as you’d imagine, it looks like it was built by Barratt Homes in
the 60’s, but it had a table tennis room and a snooker room and plenty of drawing
stuff for kids. I wanted to draw
pictures of cocks but Kerry was having none of it. Instead we played table tennis and I tried to
whack the balls in her face like I was some demented Chinese table tennis
playing maniac.
That day we ended up in Barrow, it still feels weird.
