Sickers and Knott

Darwin and I decided to double bag a couple of Howgills today, Knott and Sickers Fell. He’s already been up Knott, it was the first hill he ever climbed, but this time there would be no shoulder rides.

He wasn’t phased in the slightest. Half way up Knott we had a rest on a wall and had a drink. Talk seemed to revolve around Big Foot for a while, Pete is a potential believer you see, and every snapped branch or out of place rock was blamed on Big Foot.

We spoke about survival techniques, the power of guns and what would happen if an asteroid struck. The sun was shining and although summer was coming to an end we were alive and happy, basking in sun and up a big hill.

We reached the summit of Knott hand in hand and Darwin was buzzing. We ate lunch and surveyed the valleys beneath us. I gave him the option of descending from here just in case he’s had enough but with Sickers being the highest of the 4 Sedbergh Howgills in wanted to bag that as well.

We reached Sickers about half an hour later. We took photos but didn’t hang around too long before making our descent. On the way down we sang and both broke wind lots, and consequently we laughed lots too.
